What does 'new' even mean to any of us?" A new idea? A new coat? A new haircut? The New Typography? Neu Haas Grotesk? New Wave? New Romance? Newbie? Neu? A new beginning? there's endless interpretations.
Task: To find a way to express the idea 'new' through imagery, typography and surfaces in any medium you wish. Assemble the design ideas for an 'exhibition entry' around the idea of new."
Part of a College Brief, I was tasked with an Open Brief that asked me to explore the subject and theme of the word "new" and had to create some form of engaging visual experience to showcase my ideas.
After many hours of brainstorming, I had narrowed my ideas down to a handful of phrases that represented one core idea. These phrases were "New Game Plus", ""New Start", "New Save" etc... and all played on the idea of a New Beginning. I came up with the idea to create a publication or theoretical monthly edition magazine that investigates and highlights a handful of key players in a newly emerging industry; virtual representation and its various forms.
